I am determined to start thinking SPRING; warm weather, beautiful gardens, cookouts with family and friends and fresh flower bouquets on my table--ahh, doesn't that sound nice! Well, now that we are in the mood, its a perfect time to announce my SPRING GIVEAWAY. Fresh flowers add such a wonderful touch to a table setting. Painted Furniture



I am so excited to announce that I am now a dealer for Somerset Bay Furniture. Somerset Bay is an incredible furniture company whose collection is inspired by some of the most impressive coastal locales – Nantucket, Newport, Carmel, Bar Harbor. Each piece is handcrafted from the finest plantation grown mahogany and premium veneers and trim. The way the pieces are distressed, dry-brushed, and antiqued are just amazing. And the drawers are constructed of renewable, plantation grown mahogany and made with traditional dovetail joints. You will just marvel at the beauty of these timeless pieces. This is such a great line. I have already made a wish list for my clients and myself.

Before and After Projects

I first want to say sorry for the lack of posts last week. Hannah was the only one of my children on Spring Break and I tried to make it fun for her ( my fun and a 12 year olds fun are totally different).

Now that everyone is back in school, I can refocus.  I finally was able to pick up two pieces that I had reupholstered.  They turned out great and I am so excited to show you before and after pictures. 

Before: I bought 2 of these chairs on Craigslist.



After: I had the chair upholstered in a hot pink suede for my daughters room. We both love how it turned out. I have one more of these chairs which has been stripped of its old fabric but has not been upholstered.  If anyone is interested contact me for pricing.

Before: I bought this adorable chair in an antique store in Bethany Beach.

After: I had the seat of the chair upholstered in a cream fabric with little rose colored dots which form a diamond pattern. The back of the chair is done in an all rose fabric which also has a diamond pattern set in the material. I painted the arms and legs of the chair in a distressed cream.  This is a small chair and would look great in a little girls room. Anyone interested in purchasing this chair, please contact me for pricing.



Another new addition to SHM Designs is Duralee Fabrics. Duralee is a family owned and operated company that was founded in 1952. I have used their fabrics both personally and in business and have always been completely happy. I absolutely love the variety of their fabrics, and am very excited to be able to offer them with the ease of seeing them right in my home.  Duralee also has an incredible furniture line which is made right here in the US .

Just Smile



With so much sadness in the world right now how could I possibly be talking about smiling. Well my answer to you is :

Just SMILE.

Smile because you are waking up after a nights sleep,
Smile because your kids are screaming your name for help,
Smile because you need to make lunches but you are out of bread,
Smile because there is a terrible traffic jam and you are going to be late for work,
Smile because your doing homework with your kids in the car on your way to basketball practice.
Smile because its 9pm and you are just eating dinner out of a box.
Smile because your in bed and you have kissed your husband goodnight,

Just Smile because you can....

Great Giving Back Project

Inspirational Rooms

I've been searching the internet the last couple of days for clients and found some incredible rooms that I just had to share. They are truly inspiring.

I just love the lanterns and the feel of this room.(could do with out the deer head)

 The dark brown tones of the floor and the dark framed windows with the lanterns make the simplicity of this room feel rich and warm.  I also love the splash of color in the flowers.
